  • I'm having trouble reconciling Zidane's action. My whole life I've only had one sports hero: Zizou. I never cared for anyone else.
    I was in France for World Cup '98.

    The game wasn't very good. In fact, the Portugal-France game wasn't very good. Italy-Germany had a good first half and a good final two minutes, but it wasn't good overall. The Germans were complete thugs.

    The Germany-Portugal match was just silly.

    Germany-Argentina was okay. Italy-Ukraine was ridiculous.

    I missed Brazil-France because I was at a wedding. I hear it was decent, but not incredible.

    World Cup '98 was awesome. World Cup 2002 was incredible, particularly because so many smaller teams made it through, even though the final was a bore.

    World Cup '06 was tragic.
